Level 2 EV charging:
the most convenient way to charge your electric car at home

There are three levels of EV charging available, distinguished by the
different rates of electricity delivered to your car

Level 1 charging

The Level 1 charging level means simply plugging the battery-operated vehicle into a standard, 120-volt household outlet. Many EV drivers find the 4 to 5 miles of driving range per hour that Level 1 charging provides isn’t enough to keep up with daily driving needs.

Level 2 charging

JuiceBox Level 2 charging provides a faster 12 to 60 miles of driving range per hour of charge. Utilizing a 240-volt outlet, Level 2 charging is most suitable for daily driving needs, and the most practical way to charge an EV at home.

Level 3 charging

Level 3 charging, often called DC fast charging, provides the quickest charging rate, but the high installation costs, the need for a licensed electrician, and complex infrastructure requirements make this charging method impractical as a home charging unit. Level 3 DC chargers are typically found at public charging stations or Tesla Supercharger stations.
